Shoot like Steve McCurry...

After watching The Last roll of Kodachrome video on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUL6MBVKVLI) I decided to try Steve's technique for portrait. He positions the subject near the door threshold so the background is usually darker and the face is lit up by the outside light which is well balanced.

This was taken using the same technique.
